The Realization

The Realization

I don’t know, but whenever I see this photograph ( from Pinterest), I hear an inner voice chanting ‘The Realization’.
I woke up this evening after quite a ‘dream’ – a lucid one. The vividness of it baffles me, but a immense break from this Reality is was – like a free ground to experiment with Art and Emotion. A training ground a lucid dream is to me.
I place the background, the foreground – balance the abstract qualities in it as I please.

And then – commit it to memory and hope to show it to others with my trusty paints and the canvas. Just eager to bridge the gap – the gap between reality and my mind.

Titled as Dystopia ( Dark state, environmental-urban deterioration), a total of 3 and a half hours were spent in completing this digital painting. As always I used PaintToolSAI for this, as I wanted blending to be natural (as oil paints are). The idea for this came, after I came across a selective color painting by some artist on Facebook; his/her painting also used purple palette and I felt a sense of ‘royal’ and ‘dream-like’ feelings being emitted by that. Perhaps the fixed emotion ( not happy nor sad ) contributed to some extend to this, but the contrasting background (dark purple behind right purple) promoted this. So moving on, I chose ‘blending’ over ‘contrast’ as it gives ‘softness’ to the painting; even when bright or very dull colors are used. In my paintings i have noticed that colors them selves dont make a painting bright or dull; but they are relative on each other, a painting that uses very bright colors can appear very dull indeed, if the palette doesnt use any contrast.
The ‘figurative’ and ’emotional’ nature of this painting tell us about ones need to go out once in a while and ponder over the apparent darkness of a busy/crowded/mechanized place. This does not mean that darkness exists everywhere, but the thoughts of a ‘young’ mind about one’s survival in the ‘Practical World’. A scene depicting the time of the dawn is shown, as this is the time when the cold breeze brushes against you and one is fresh and ready to go out and then stop! ‘think about whats more to come?’. The butterfly depicts hope, and works as to counter the darkness of the city behind and the painting itself. The orbs add to the lightness of the sky (even though the sky is ‘in’ the background); this is a visual indication that ‘don’t look down and be frightened, keep your hopes high, look up! up at the bright sky; there are surely better things to come!’

As Étoile Bleue, the shades of purple here show ‘dream-like’ presence.

Splashes of Music…

Good Morning everyone! 🙂 . I feel very fresh this morning as there was heavy rainfall almost all the night, and the cloudy, watery weather just splashes one with energy. I have taken some photos of the scenery too, and will make a new header for my blog today.. 🙂

_____

So, Splashes of Music. The way that music affects us..is sometimes indescribable and difficult to display on a canvas or ‘encode’ the same feelings in a photograph.  So, I was naturally, very joyed to see this photograph by oO-Rein-Oo on deviantART ( http://oo-rein-oo.deviantart.com/ )..

Here, Dive Into Music

Image

See how the dark cassette contrasts with the teal water. The effect is that they both compliment each other, and give an effect of music ‘splashing’ on your faces.. Feel it? I do!

His other photographs are very very vibrant too, and have somewhat similar effect on us.. Here are some:

PAPER STORIES

I completed this sketch about a month ago, but totally forgot about uploading it  since I’ve been mostly pre-occupied with making oil paintings.. I even haven’t done digital art in a month..Some how oil painting has just ‘grasped’ me…It just feels so fun to work with them..

So anyways, here is the sketch I did:Image

I’ve titled it as PAPER STORIES. This just came to my head at that time, and seemed intriguing. SO, I started off to create a paper sheet bursting in the middle, as I may have seen some artworks on Pinterest that influenced me to create this. Not a specific piece though. so after creating the sheet, I wanted something more in it, and got the idea to practice a wooden surface as I has never really created a wood texture before.. So after that, I still found it to be too ‘simple’, so I got an idea! Why not make it symbolic?! if you added font to the paper, and made it symbolic then it would totally work out.. So, in here, the paper sheet represents life and the boundary of understanding. the wooden surface represents another layer, and one may not be able to fully understand life beyond this. This is the limit! the fonts represent the states of life/emotion; hence

One can understand life, and its meaning to a limit. Beyond this, one may find nothing..or too much to understand

I posted this on G+ also 🙂  https://plus.google.com/110691827763571631843/posts/JHKY7uMuBrF

Here are some closeup shots of it, check them out too.. 🙂

What a wonderful feeling this painting gives me; it has made me sleepy just by taking a look at it. Such a beautiful combination between sleep and floating in an ocean. One often feels like this just before sleep, the World starts to sway around you, the brain feels lighter, vision becomes blurred and then finally a quick flash and you’re in a heavenly ocean; resting you head on a comfy pillow and the cool breeze splashing against your skin…….wow!
